Flame me if you want or call me Debbie Downer...DON'T DO THIS IN ANY VEHICLE!!
I know that many of you like to offroad and play with these cars but I had a very good friend's sister who did this in a Jeep Cherokee, just on her way home from work, thinking the water "wasn't that high, or that fast" and she died. It is very difficult to judge running water and you would be surpised what the power of water can do...that is my public service announcement for today and I hope you all think twice before trying this.

sorry for the loss of a friend...
I'll just add that any serious off roader will tell you that you do not travel over ANY unknown obstacle, water or otherwise, without getting out of your vehicle and inspecting it yourself on foot. As for water, if you can't WALK through it, or THINK you can't, there's no way you'll be able to drive through it.

no flames at all...I appreciate the concern!
just an fyi -- we both walked through the water before driving and did a few test runs, so this *was* planned in advance.
I just lost a childhood friend as well; she was driving on the 101 and a GARBAGE truck pulled a u-turn from the other direction and she hit it head-on. So, my condolences and empathies.
So, on that note, does anyone have any pics?

The topic is good, just maybe a "don't try this at home" caveat would be good...
The most offroad I get with my allroad is bad gravel roads and my back pasture I will tell you that you can't lose the rear end on this vehicle under any of the circumstances I have tried...maybe ice under all four wheels...I don't know exactly HOW quattro works but I do know that it DOES work better than any other AWD and many 4X4's I've driven. If there are any object-oriented programming geeks out there it is like the "black box theory" for me...I know there are some of you who know what's in it but I am content to know that if I put me in the vehicle and operate it correctly it WILL stay on the road

Clickety, clackety - best off-road views ever
sorry, girlroad, I just think this is the funniest allroad offroad scene regardless of gender (though I confess no interest in seeing the opposite!)

little peek
