Where's the antenna amp in an '02 allroad? FM reception just went to crap
Already STFA, but to no avail... my FM reception just went out (as in completely... no reception at all), and after removing the head-unit and checking all the wires -- especially the antenna leads -- I've come to the conclusion that either the antenna is screwy (but I've unscrewed and replaced it a couple times to check the reception, also to no avail), or the antenna amp is blown.
Everything worked fine for the past 2 months since the iPod install, so I don't think it's that... I just can't hear ANY FM channels anymore (I can hear one AM station, but that's from an antenna that's about 2 miles away).
Any advice? I'd rather not go to the trouble of removing all my iceLink stuff so I can drop it off at the dealership. TIA.

There are 2 antenna amps, 1 ea. below the L & R D-pillar trim...
...and there is an antenna selection control problem beneath the rear roof interior trim.
But I doubt that's your problem. It if were an antenna problem you'd be able to hook a short wire to the antenna input and get some reception. Sounds like the head unit's dead. Sub in a good unit and see, before taking your car apart.

Not sure... I can get (really crappy) reception sometimes, and can get one AM. Ipod's fine too
So I don't think it's the head-end. I guess I'll just take 'er in to the dealer.
Thanks!
Thanks!

You were right! Head unit's fried
After taking it in to the dealer, I guess the radio was the problem. So in the three months I've had the car, that's my third radio. Yay!
