windshield issues aside - armrest removal - how to pull duct?
when i found out about the leak in my windshield, i happened to be close to done with my icelink plus install. anyways. i'm working on getting the armrest out and can't seem to figure out how to remove the vent connector. the vents/lighter/heatcontrols are removed. however, i don't feel right about just pulling the duct straight out. although this is basically what bentley's indicates is the right thing to do. are there some clips that need to be pushed in to get it out? i'm in constant fear of breaking off a plastic clip that will cause me creaking/rubbing noises forever. i did this on a old Apple Centris 650 at work once and never lived it down. thanks for any and all advice. j.
ps. i did search the archive and looked in bentleys. the part about "fabricate a tool out of screwdriver in shop" for removing the vent piece cracks me up.

pretty much pull straight out.
see pics in this article:
I used a plastic putty knife for releasing the clips.<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec101.shtml">https://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec101.shtml</a</li></ul>

that's where i got the idea - great execution!
i just wanted to make sure i wasn't going to break off any "hidden" clips that connect the duct to the main air duct system. i'm going to give it a good pull when i get off work. then i'll finally be finished. otherwise, your write-up was extremely helpful. was there any reason why you didn't route through the telephone jack? thanks. j.
