XPOST: Gentlemen, Charity Fund-raiser for Child's Play is a go
A few days ago I proposed that AWOT and other AW forums work en-mass to help make some children's Xmas a little better. There was good support and encouragement for me to explore this further.
After much emailing among the principal players, a Christmas fundraiser for Child's Play is ready to commence. This charity was nominated by a number of AWOT members.
For those who do not know, Child's Play is an international charity organization born in 2003 when over 100,000 gamers worldwide banded together to create a community-based charity grown and nurtured from the game culture and industry.
To date, over two million dollars in donations of toys, games, books and cash have been collected to assist in their efforts to help sick kids to be a little happier in children's hospitals across North America and the world.
Our goal is to add to their coffers so that their good work can continue in existing hospitals and new hospitals around the world can be added to their cause. Some hospitals have made a list of requested or desired items, click the icon nearest your location on the Child's Play home page.
Its simple to participate in this valuable organization: visit their site http://www.childsplaycharity.org/, click the Paypal logo and make your donation per the directions or select an item from the hospital wish list. That's it.
Donate whatever amount you wish, Your regular PayPal account log will serve as receipt for tax purposes.
There was some discussion about making this a loud whiz-bang event - however there are some issues that need to be considered first and these will take time to resolve, so a slow start, learn a few things and perhaps we can mount a big deal for next Xmas.
In the mean time,spread the word to other Audiworld participants and if you have contacts with Vortex or Bimmerworld or similar organizations please share this information with them and challenge them to participate.
