Default Charging Complete... Every 5 minutes?!

Hi all,

Finally picked up an eTron after years of waiting for the range to get to where I needed to be, and overall I’m actually really loving the car. Since I don’t drive a lot typically (short trips every couple days and long trips with their family once a month), I’ve set the charge target to 70% and have a ChargePoint 50A station in my garage. The issue I have is that the myAudi app indicates “Charging Complete” not just once, but EVERY... FIVE... MINUTES... On the dot.

I’ve searched the forums but haven’t seen any posts about this (apologies if I missed something), and wondered if anyone had any idea of where to even start. Even with app notifications off, it makes the app unusable because the internal notifications cover the screen (see screenshots). I can’t tell if it’s a vehicle issue (keeps charging every 5 min), a setting somewhere I can change, an app issue, an AudiConnect issue...

I’ve tried the usual tech steps (deleting and reinstalling the app, restarting the phone) on the device side.

Any ideas are welcome. TIA!

This is due to the charger you are using, not the car. It is pinging the car too frequently.

Thanks for the arrow. However, I have two data points that suggest a possible other issue:

1) Swapped to the included Audi charger, but same issue. I can also confirm that at least on some occasions when I've sat in the garage to look, the car is, in fact, charging (so definitely more car related than app related).

2) When unplugged, the charge state almost immediately drops from 70 to 69%. It doesn't continue to drop, so I don't see evidence of a power drain issue, but it really doesn't want to stay at 70 for some reason.

I am now charging back up to the standard recommended 80% to see if the issue persists, or if it's limited to the 70% level for some reason...

EDIT: Same issue at 80% - Charge Complete alerts every 5 min, with drop from 80 to 79% almost immediately after unplugging.

I'd bring it back to Audi Service and have them troubleshoot this one. In LA, Audi BH Service has 4 eTron techs.

Got on the phone with the eTron hotline and came to the same conclusion. Just dropped it off at Service - neither the hotline nor the service center has seen this before. Hopefully they figure it out in less than a week

Update: There is a TSB for this issue. Dealer is currently downloading the 15GB software update that supposedly fixes it. Should get my baby back tomorrow.

Definitely ignore this comment. Everything always comes down to karma. That guy bought a new e-tron yesterday. Here is what his iPad looks like this morning:

I forgot about this. I saw it shortly after getting the car so I just disabled notifications from the app. Good to know there may be a fix.

Well.... bollocks... The software update related to TSB2061788/1 did *not* fix the charge notifications every 5 minutes issue

Hopefully it at least fixed the occasional Initializing charge system error I was having (where the car wouldn't start charging at all).

Will post updates if I ever get this fixed. For now I think I'll just lower the target by 10% after reaching my desired charge level to make it stop sending me messages.

Now that you've cursed me with this problem let me share that mine is set to charge only 80% and I'm still setting the incessant alerts FML.
