Very nice. Those NCAP folks do some nice work. The pedestrian tests freak me out though. LOL

Great to see the first independent crash test come out. As expected, great results. In seeing all the ad spend (at least in the US), I have been wondering why Audi hadn't provided one to NHTSA for testing as they must have with the Q8 that already has published tests. Hopefully its in the pipeline for testing but I would like to see it before taking delivery in several weeks! Not sure if that will happen. I'm especially interested in how the battery holds up in side impact and rollover testing. This excerpt is from NHSTA technical report on the Tesla X 60D test (not sure why it references the 75D they can probably reuse results across model trims):

"Electrical isolation measurements were taken immediately post-impact and observations were made relating to electrolyte spillage and battery retention. A static rollover was subsequently performed on the subject vehicle and electrical isolation measurements were taken at each stage of the rollover. Based on the test results, the 2017 Tesla Model X 75D 5-door MPV appears to meet the requirements for electrolyte spillage, electrical isolation, and battery retention during FMVSS No. 305 indicant testing."

FYI here's the link to the example report I mention above: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2017/T...52060D/SUV/AWD

It's the second of the two downloadable PDFs

I am sure these results are affecting insurance premiums in a good way! My premium for my E1 came in less than my 3 year old MB GLE 350.

The IIHS tests are more rigorous than the NHTSA, so those are the ones I watch for--and also the ones the insurance companies pay the most attention to (but real-life claim data is the biggest factor in rating, once there is a record).
