Got Trapped at a Fast Charger (wouldn't release)
Went to try out the nearest local fast charger today. The car completed charging and the terminal acknowledged it. However, neither side seemed to want to release the plug. I had to open the hood, find the yellow emergency release and do it manually.
Would be great to know if this is common.

The owners manual says you terminate the charging process inside the car then unlock the car before disconnecting cable. Sounds like you can't just unplug, esp. for fast charge.

From what I gathered ( Bjorn and in the manual). two things to watch for
1. after pressing the black square make sure to release the cable within 30 secs; otherwise it will self re-lock (Manual page 108 )
2. Make sure the vehicle is OFF and the climate control is OFF ( this is the scenario with Bjorn)
also to avoid this from happening ( only applies to DC Fast charging station) set the "unlock after charging ends" here : Vehicle-> Charging & eff. -> Charging -> Gear -> (Manual page 109)

I have experienced this problem both with a EVGO fast DC charger, and Chargepoint's L2 chargers. In both cases it took multiple re-tries of unlocking the vehicle, and pressing the button beside the charge port on the eTron to get it to release the charger plug.
Never had these problems with my BMW i3, which locks in the charger while charging.
