Default gradual loss of range

We've had our e-Tron (Edition One) for over 6 months now. Initially range was fine - pretty near the advertised 200ish mile range - and pretty consistent. Over the last month or two we've seen range gradually go lower and it is now ~30% less than when new. Driving style is the same - split between freeway usage (but not long distances) and around town (low/mid speeds). The primary change has been the weather is colder. We are in Northern California, so it's not that cold. Anyone seeing similar range losses?

You are only seeing 140 on a full charge now? That definitely seems low. The demo we use at my dealer shows a bit over 170 on a full charge in colder NJ weather and it probably gets driven harder than the average customer drives.

This morning it was down to 130 @ 90% charge after an overnight charge. That's equivalent to ~145 at 100%. Yes, definitely seems too low and there have been no driving behavior changes!

If you have the cold weather package check if your rear heaters are on full blast. This has dropped my range by 15% with out my noticing it.

if that's ok then you may have to check with dealer. I'm driving in 10f weather and still getting 190-210 miles at 100% charge.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Edition One does have the cold weather package. Just checked and seat heaters are all off. However, I did notice the climate control was set to HI heat on both rear zones. Have turned that down to 72 and will do some experiments (including with it off).

Recently took possession of my E-tron: this exact situation caught me off guard.

I was driving with two kids in the back seat (both still in booster seats) when I noticed a pretty much instant 20 mile drop in range. I was thinking "WTF?????!!!!!".

The next morning "ding!" and I checked the rear heaters: both heaters were set to high, fan speeds at 6 and rear seat heaters were set to maximum!

Synch'd them all to the front and magically my 20 miles of range came back

theo1000: good to know about your cold weather results: I'm about to head into this exact situation next month...

For the climate control to be most efficient, leave all of the zones in Auto and click on A/C until it says A/C eco.

I live in a dry climate and have found max efficiency in cold weather with the system set as follows: Rear zone off (or in Auto at 65F or so), front zones in Auto at 65°-67°, seat heating as needed, and A/C completely off. The auxiliary heater (I have the Cold Weather Pkg) doesn't seem to activate except on a cold start. My range drops 10% to 15% depending on whether it's above or below 35°F outside, and depending on how fast I go.

Our Bolt has electric heat only. The e-tron heat pump seems to be more efficient and also seems to de-humidify the air. I say this because we have to use the defroster in the Bolt regularly, whereas I've never had to press the DEF button in the e-tron.

One feature I LOVE is that you can set the e-tron climate control so that it comes on whenever you unlock the car. It's so nice to have the car and the seats already warming up when you get in.

OK, lowing the rear heating improved the range quite a bit, but still off what it used to be. At 90% charge it's gone back up from 130 to 156 (equivalent to 175 @ 100%). That's much better but is still about 10-15% off what it was over the summer. I guess that gap is the colder weather. There is probably a little more room for improvement with climate settings as well. Key takeaway though is poor settings for rear climate control (e.g., temp on HI) can really hit range!
