Default I just received two odd emails from Audi

I just received two odd emails from Audi. Both had the same time -- 2:01 PM. One stated that "As of March 28, 2019, your e-tron configuration will be locked...) The other one stated that "Your Audi e-tron configuration has been locked. Production of your vehicle will begin shortly..." Admittedly, Audi is very inventive, but a "wormhole?" LOL

I just spoke with someone at the e-tron help number. They are having a problem with the email system. He said that the date on the reservation website is correct and that my vehicle is tentatively scheduled for production on April 25, 2019. Audi is expecting it to take 5-6 months for the e-tron arrive in the U.S. after the start of production.

I wish it were weeks. He said delivery is expected Q3 or Q4. I quipped that I hoped it would be before September as that is when the registration on my current SUV has to be renewed. By the way, I reserved on December 4, 2018.

Very interesting. I reserved October 5. I'm not waiting 5-6 months post production. As it sits on some lot somewhere....

The same two emails came to me. I was hoping the process was speeding up, but sounds like it was an error. The website still says March 28th for a configuration lock.

Huh? Sits on a lot? If you order a regular car it takes at least 3 months depending on their production cycle. The problem is they have quite possible created too much excitement for early adopters by allowing "reservations" 6 months ago knowing they would not start production until Spring. Then it still has to go through the regular production cycle and slow boat to the US. An extra 2 months is not outrageous for the first all electric from them assuming there are other/different regulations and inspections.
Also I would bet on them under-promising and over-delivering. Nothing is worse than saying it will arrive in 3 months and then it takes 4....people go ape$hit for stuff like that.

I got the same two messages and panicked, because I had just been with my dealer's e-Tron specialist; who had i-phone pictures of actual car colors from a factory visit, earlier, and I wanted to change my selection. I went on the reservation page, saw that the "locked" date of end of March was the same and was able to change my selections. So, the "frozen" e-mail was a mistake. FYI, and for what it's worth, he said the factory was cranking the e-Tron's out and the reports of a 4 month delay were overstated. He also said that the dealership was expecting their permanent "demo" car next month (April).
