Only getting 172 miles after a full charge?
When I first picked up my car at the dealer it was fully charged and stated it had 202 miles of range available however since then every day when I get in the car and it is fully charged to 100% the available range displayed is 172 and 168 with AC turned on.
I have only been able to get 57.5/100 kw/miles and the long term best average was 43/100 kw/miles which is pretty bad the car uses double what my i3s get. Why doesn't the car return to 202 available miles once completely charged? |
Because the car figured out your consumption and according to that it calculates your "real" distance :
Battery real capacity is only 84kWh which is multiplied with your 2.0mi/kWh consumption, you get 168 miles range (84*2). |

I have only been able to get 1.8/100 kw/miles and the long term average is stating 2.0/100 kw/miles which is pretty bad the car uses double what my i3s get. Why doesn't the car return to 202 available miles once completely charged? BTW, I think your consumption statistics are wrong. No way is it 2.0/100 kw/miles. You probably mean 2.0 miles/kwh? If you were displaying kw/miles it should be something like 45/100. Finally, if you connect up to the Audi app you can see consumption data on a per trip basis. This may help you understand what's happening as you can see which "trips" are more efficient. |
Crazy consumption the last five trips listed in the app are as follows
55.4 kWh/100miles 48 miles driven avrg Speed 30mph 55.4 kWh/100miles 26 miles driven avrg Speed 17mph 43.5 kWh/100miles 14 miles driven avrg Speed 14mph 43.5 kWh/100miles 14 miles driven avrg Speed 14mph 59.5 kWh/100miles 4 miles driven avrg Speed 12mph 57.5 kWh/100miles 23 miles driven avrg Speed 19mph |

The car is trying to best estimate your range. However, this is almost impossible to do since it doesn't know how or where you are going to drive. To make estimates it is using your driving history. In your case, your driving habit is below the range estimated when you picked up the car. I've noticed that there are huge variabilities in projected range. Some factors include your speed (if you go fast on the highway range goes down fast), how fast you accelerate (hard acceleration uses more battery), whether or not you let regeneration slow you down (puts more power into the batteries), how much stop and go you do (every time you accelerate is potentially decreasing your range), etc.

The speeds are low and the temperature is probably ideal, but I assume you climb a lot of hills in the SF area?
