Default Traffic light information

White Plains is one of the few cities that has. Traffic Light Info system. Too bad it does not appear on the HUD

Very cool, thanks for posting that. Do you know if it works with the predictive efficiency system to apply the regen or set cruise speed for optimal light timing?

I am pretty sure this showed in the HUD of the Q8 when I tried it in Palo Alto?

Traffic Light info/icon also appears on my 2017 A4 Prestige HUD. Make sure you have all the display options enabled within the HUD settings on the MMI.

As of Feb. 2019, there are 13 METRO areas that currently support traffic light info, which can include MANY hundred cities, including White Plains. This represents about 10% of all North American traffic signals.

Enabled metro areas include: Dallas, Denver, Gainesville, Fla.; Houston, Kansas City, Kansas; Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York City, Orlando, Fla.; Phoenix, Portland, Ore.; San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. and northern Virginia.

Ever since I first read about this system I’ve wondered why municipalities don’t go with this cheaper and vastly more obvious implementation ...

As this causes crashes by people watching the count down and either not slowing down or accelerating out of the gate. This is pointless and dangerous.

This looks like the Electrify America network. Great in concept but no use with such a minimal footprint

It's all well and good to have cars with fast charging capabilities and advanced traffic technology but what's the point in selling it when it's in such limited availability

By that standard, drivers looking anywhere other than straight forward cause crashes - looking down to the VC/gauge cluster, reading information/graphics on the MMI screen, changing hvac settings, etc..... Thankfully the VC and Audi Connect subscription allow drivers to customize the information that is shown so as to remove information they feel is of no value.

Personally, I like the Traffic Light function. It seems to be a forward step in the evolution of traffic management from the existing traffic jam assist and other alternate route guidance that comes with current navigation/driving technology.

You have to start somewhere! It is a chicken and egg kind of thing. If no cars use it no cities will implement the technology.
