US spec SIM slot
 

I've seen e-trons with and without the cellular SIM card slot. Does anyone know if the US spec cars have a SIM port or are they using eSIMs? The manual isn't clear on this for the US.

I think all the US versions are eSIM now. I'm pretty sure my 2017 A4 Prestige is eSIM.

The US manual states that you have only eSim option. EU cars have your own SIM card and eSIM options.

The current generation A4 has a SIM slot in the US but it uses an e-sim. It has been reported that a coding change in the MMI can enable the physical SIM although it is not clear why you would want or need to do that.

For me, I want to try other MVNOs that will provide a data only SIM associated with my main account. Something like FreedomPoP or ProjectFi accounts.

I don't have a good understanding yet for how much data the e-tron will try to use.

My current Audi vehicles don't have Audi Connect capabilities.

It looks like they won't have the SIM slot. This US spec car doesn't have it:
