Waiting for the Taycan because the e-tron's EPA sucks? The wait is over!

The electric Porsche Taycan Turbo has an EPA range of 201 miles

I'm not at all happy about this. I wish Porsche could have done better. Is the Turbo S going to fall below 200? Looks likely.

I know it's not available day 1 but the 300KW charging is interesting. If the Audi can do a full charge (might be 80%) at 150Kw in 30 minutes does this mean the Taycan could do it in 15 mins? If that's the case you could potentially look at it getting closer to filling up a car with a tank of gas. Granted, it's not great mileage but reducing the charging time could be a good offset to this (when the EA network ramps up)

I was annoyed by the 204 for the e-Tron but resorted to the fact that I would only really need it 2 to 3 times a year and to date I haven't had any range anxiety (haven't done a big trip either). No one can seem to get anywhere near Tesla. Audi, Jaguar, Mercedes and now Porsche are all coming in between 200\250. Interesting question though...... Would people sacrifice mileage to an extent for extremely fast charging (ie 10 to 15 mins)?

Some people in my neighborhood have golf carts to get around to other neighbors and the clubhouse. Electric cars are much the same, but to get you around your region of the world. There's not much better to get around town when you go less than 100mi a day. There's a reason we kept a few of our gasoline cars. The trip that was 700mi, even with the EA chargers would have cost us 3.5 hours of charging on top of a 9 hour trip. We took the Suburban.

Taycan probably pushing performance over range kinda like early Teslas.
It will be interesting to see what the more mainstream Cayenne and Macan EV's range will be.

In regards to hrc's question, yes, give me 1MW charging and then it only takes 5 minutes to charge, that is reasonably comparable to a gasoline fill-up.
But as it stands right now they want you to hang around for a while to go shopping at walmart, c-store, mall etc. and BUY other things.
starbucks latte = $29.20/gal

LOL. I was right on the money! Ever since that UDDS range came out of the CARB filing I knew it was going to be hovering 190-210 miles.

In all fairness, Tesla miles are rather different. My ex Tesla never came close to the rated range, whereas the eTron can actually reach its EPA rated range.

I’m not sure if I read it in here or on some other site but it came across that Tesla unlocked everything to get that EPA. Using all the KW’s of the battery and charging to 100% which if it’s the case then it’s misleading and shouldn’t be allowed. I’m sure Audi’s EPA would be much higher if the full 95Kw was available and charged to 100%.

I agree with you that the EPA range on the Audi is pretty spot on.

I don’t have anything to add to the topic being discussed in this thread, but wanted to “illustrate” it anyway. I just returned from a trip to Portugal, where I bumped into a convoy of at least 40 Taycans near the Sagres Fortress. Chatting with one of the drivers, I learned that they were on a promo tour to introduce the car to Porsche clubs.

Wow, that was an interesting convoy. Nice photos.

Amazing! I'm estimating that's over $6,000,000 in cars!
