the idea is to show how much more drag you get once you get past 60mph.

the slope of the curve really takes off after that point and efficiency nosedives significantly. another way to show this is to open window and stick your hand out with palm vertical to ground just to feel the drag your hand creates at different speeds...then imagine how much more air front of you car (with 100 times more area) needs to push to maintain the speed...I think etron frontal area is 2.65 square meters or 28.5 square ft with 0.29 Cd so drag area is about 9 square ft. or 50% more than model S

model X has similar frontal area to e-tron

I also found that rolling resistance is speed and tire pressure dependent as well, which explains why you get better efficiency with higher tire pressures and lower speeds. not as much as drag but it still makes difference.

I feel like this is something that as an EV driver everybody should test on a road trip and be experienced with it's impact on your car. If you live in TX or SD it is easy, go to an 80mph stretch of the highway, put your cruise in at 90 and watch your e-tron's efficiency over 100 miles. On the other side of the equation, on a 60mph limit area set your cruise at 55 and drive a hundred miles.

I never really sweat it when the car says I am dipping out of range. 1. The computer leaves a huge buffer in the e-tron route planner and 2. If you just slow down, the e-tron will claw back range.

here you go. I think using your short term miles per kWh is more practical as you cant keep the speed constant in most circumstances. nice thing about using short term efficiency (miles/kWh) numbers is that they include all variables such as your speed, temperature, HVAC, terrain etc.

my two data points from my trips above indicate that I can get ~240 miles of range if my average speed is 54mph and 211 miles of range if my average speed is 64mph so looks like you loose about 30 miles of range for every 10mph over 55 average speed.

I never get the advertised 222 miles of range. Never.
There are times in 80dF clear weather when I can get 2.8-3.0 m/kWhr on my 22 mile drive to work; average speed about 54 mph, (congestion), with the cruise set at 9 mph over the speed limit which on the highway varies from 60-65 mph; Efficiency mode; 21” wheels; tyre psi set to recommended pressures.

Long term efficiency since I bought the car over 30,000 miles is 2.4 miles/kWhr over 3+ years and some very cold winter months.

UPDATE:
There was definitely issue with my 2019 Etron and my suspicions were right on target. Even though low range (140 miles @ 80%), I was assured by many of you it is completely normal at the end of the winter.
Now Etron completely stopped charging and displayed RED LED on charging port. It would not charge with new Electrify America home unit, portable charger and Public Electrify America as well. Luckily with some 132 miles of range available I had enough juice to bring it to dealer where it waits on diagnostics and repair.
I got 2023 Etron P+ as loaner which shows 219 miles on 100% charge.

3 year old car with only 23.712 on Odometer? Really?

I am anxious to see what I can expect in terms of length of repair and certainly little anxious of what future surprises this vehicle will bring. Certainly purchasing an extended warranty as soon as MFG warranty expires.

Taking mine in for 30k service in 2 weeks and to take care of following issues that I identified in the first month and half since owning the car, 28k miles on it:

1. Front left/right ball joints - TSB 2058421/3 car has clunk over broken surfaces (every time I enter/exit my garage which has 1 inch threshold) https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...85203-0001.pdf

2. Front right wheel bearing is bad - you can hear bad bearing when you load right hand side on left turns

3. Rear motor/transmission makes grinding noise under light acceleration at low speeds between 10 to 20 mph. Other folks who reported this kind of noise had their rear motor/gearbox replaced before total failure, if not addressed rear motor would fail on the road with all inconveniences that brings and car would have to be towed in for repairs.

I asked dealer to confirm availability of the parts and loaner car so these repairs can be performed in timely and most efficient manner. Lets see how it goes :-)

oh jeez. wonderful.. Can't wait.. I put only very little miles on my car, but seems like these cars were either not designed very well, or we are all collective victims on 1st Edition quirks and failures before they fix it for the next editions. I wish all of this would be included in very generous warranty program as this is Audi's 1st EV attempt.

Gentleman,
so my range issues - UPDATE. Faulty battery controller.... so, no cold battery, consistent operating temperatures etc.
deffective part, not reading battery output data correctly. Just FYI, if you have similar issues, have them test this unit.
