Default 2 Questions: Price / deal and Special "options"

I never done ED but have had purchased new cars over the years.
Based on most posts here seems like people pretty much get only the 5% off sticker price and not much after that.
Is that correct? IF you did negotiate with the dealer - do you feel like you got a comparable deal to what you could potentialy get if it was a local delivery?

Second question: Is it possible to get a car with an option that is available only in EU?
I am very interested if it would be possible to get A6 with manual trans?.

Thanks!

Default My Experience with an S6 Purchase

I live in the Mid-Atlantic, and I contacted about 6 dealers in my area about an S6. All said the same thing: we dont have S6s just sitting on the lot (unlike, say, A4s); S6s are rare; they sell right away; and if you want one, it's basically a special order. For that reason, we don't discount off MSRP. When I pointed out that I could save 5% off MSRP by picking up the car in Germany, they said we still won't discount, which is why I'm doing Euro delivery next month. I have read notes from a few other S6 owners who said they were able to get a deal, but I think those are the exception, not the rule.

As to your second question, Euro delivery is a car spec'ed for the U.S. market, and if an EU manual is not U.S.-spec'ed, Audi will not export it to the U.S. I tried this with a Volvo a few years ago and was told the same thing. I think there may be an exception for U.S. military personnel who pick up EU-spec'ed cars and bring them home, but I don't know much about that process.

Default I thought I had been told or read once that a dealer can discount the car even more.

I looked but could not find this anywhere though. As far as a euro spec car.......only U.S. spec but you may be able to pick up euro spec parts and accessories and put them on the car after it is delivered stateside.

Default dealer could discount more, but...

with cars with low supply but high demand (R8, RS4, S6), there's no incentive for the dealer to go lower. For example, there is (or was) a new R8 for sale on eBay in my area, and the listed price was over MSRP. So, getting 5% off MSRP (via Euro delivery) for a car like that may be a relative "bargain." As for Euro mods, I'd be worried about voiding the warranty.
