Frankfurt dropoff tips?

Any tips on dropping off in Frankfurt? Nearby carwash? Easy routes to transit or any nearby car rental places? (Dropping off Friday, debating renting for Friday afternoon & Saturday.) Any other hints, tips, tircks, etc?

TIA!

Thank you sir! Great info there! Definitely makes me lean towards dropping off earlier on Friday and renting a car to get to Rothenburg vs trying to train over. Crazy that one cannot drop off on the weekends though :(

I think only in Munich you can drop of on weekend by appointment and 60.00 EUR extra. Rest of Europe is relaxing during weekend and don't give a d#$ about that issue. :)

Followup:

Washed the car at the Mr. Wash across the street: https://www.google.com/maps/place/%2...27741e043fc9bf

Yes, it's touch :( and they use a track :( but everything seemed to come out well. The guy at the track entrance was super-careful directing me onto the track. Then he hosed off bugs and stuff before running us through the washer. We pulled off and vacuumed out the interior then headed to BLG - note that making the "U-turn" through the roundabout is tricky, I confess to making two passes through to get it right :(

I rented from Hertz - there's a location about 10 minutes walk away from the BLG dropoff: https://www.google.com/maps/place/He...6329ad7fe25608

Note that car choices at these corporate locations are much less than at the airport - so plan ahead. We rented online about 40 hours before we picked up and had pretty little selection - ended up with a Hyundai i30 (4dr hatchback) which at least had a luggage cover. Ironically the Hyundai had a 6spd manual - an option I would have killed for on the Audi!

Biggest problem overall was finding the BLG office - easy enough to get to the gated lot. The key is to park in the first lot off to your left immediately after passing the gate and then look for the office in a straight line from the gate. I.e. if you drove in a perfectly straight line in from the gate offroad and over their lawn decorations until you hit the building, the office door would be close at hand on your right side :)

On the subject of Rothenberg, you do NOT want to take your Audi into the inner town. The tiny i30 was interesting to maneuver. For future reference, I'd park in the lot outside and hike my stuff in to the hotel!

ETA: Don't skip the carwash - guy with a VW right behind me at BLG got rejected for bug guts on his front bumper! He was pissed - which struck me odd, as I'd be WAY more pissed if US Customs quarantined my car!

My awesome wife happens to have snapped a perfect picture of this - taken immediately after the gate - notice the sign seems to direct you to the left (into the oncoming truck), but in reality you want the door directly ahead with the red light above it (by the little tiny thin tree).

Assuming the picture poster doesn't strip it, this image has GPS EXIF info embedded, so you can open it up in Google Earth or similar to see exactly where you'd need to be :)

Argh, it does strip GPS tags :( Here's the KML file:
