IFF's web site describes themselves as a privately owned full service Customs Broker, International Freight Forwarder and NVOCC (Non Vessel Owning Common Carrier).
My interpretation of IFF role is that they are Audi's agent to handle the importation of the ED car to the US.

Do you know at what point in the process IFF takes cognizance of the vehicle? My paperwork indicates that BLG Logistics is handling the transportation of the car. I wonder if IFF takes cognizance once the vehicle reaches the US?

Just got an e-mail back from the Gonderand folks in Zurich stating that my SQ5 was picked up the same day I dropped it off (9/28). It's now the beginning of the third week since pick-up and no indication on the BLG tracking site that the car has left Zurich. Some tracking system! Should I assume that the car has just been sitting on the dock in Emden for two weeks?

Probably Jim. BLG didn't show my pick up or drop off either. It showed it was entered in to the system and then that it was scheduled for a certain boat, that's it.
IFF handles the customs stuff for Audi, at least in San Diego. BLG handles the logistics of getting it on to the boat.

Also, there are 2 boats leaving Emden to San Diego this month, 7th and 24th according to the NYK schedule. So yours should either already be on the ship (BLG should be able to tell you), or be on the one that leaves on the 24th.
