Default Need travel advice

One of these days one of my cars will be ready for pickup, hopefully before the snow flies again. My basic plan is to fly into Amsterdam or Frankfurt and take the train to Munich. I thought it would be nice to take a first class train ride at least once in my life. Do you guys think it's a worth while diversion, and if so roughly how much does it cost. Thanks in advance.

Default Couldn't find fares this far out for sept but

It should be about a four hour ride from Frankfurt Main Hbf to the Munich Hbf. Cost for May is $235 American.

Default Germain rail is great...

I've taken it many times. You can get on the German ICE (inter city express) trains at Amsterdam Schiphol airport and Frankfurt airport. Not all the trip will be high-speed. It depends on the rail quality. None in the Netherlands have high speed capabilities. The leg from Nuremburg to Ingolstadt is a brand new fast section (300 km/h).

www.raileurope.com has schedules and fares. You can even order tickets in the US. You can also buy them at the airport stations when you get there. Right now Amsterdam airport to Munich in first class is $528, and takes about 8 hours. Frankfurt to Munich is $235 and 3.5 hours.

From Munich, you take a local train (S-bahn) to get out to the airport, which is northeast of the city.

I don't think cost should be an issue for you
