All the ships you see are near land, presumably connected to the internet.

Besides, the estimate for San Diego is 9/8 so I'm just counting on that schedule anyways.

Honestly, it's weird to think that our European trip is over. We waited a long time just to get our car at the factory, and that was like a month ago for us now.
You are right. You can pay more to track the ship when it's out of land/network range, but the free version does not provide information when they are, as you say, in the middle of the ocean. Most likely your ship is moving and you'll see it again soon.

No, not Internet. Vessels are tracked by satellites and land based AIS, but the free tracking websites only use the land based AIS system so updates will only come in if the vessel is close to land. If you want to track it all the way, you gonna have to pay for satellite tracking.

After months of waiting, our RS3 finally arrived! We received a notice from the dealership that it had arrived yesterday, and we picked it up today.

We dropped it off on 7/30 and it arrived on 9/18. That's just over 7 weeks -- not too bad considering that they say it could be 12 weeks.

So now the waiting phase is finally over and the driving phase begins...

Congrats and enjoy the ride, although it may not be as fun as in Germany!
