Default Some questions about ED. also from the dealer's perspective

Hi there,

I'm thinking about doing ED but not sure.

My situation:

I am from Holland (in Europe next to Germany) and am in the US for two years for military training. Am looking at buying a 2010 S4. Of course being a cheap bastard, I want to get the best deal I can

So I am wondering when looking at it from dealer's perspective how they look at ED.

I have got some leave coming up around christmas when I am planning to go back to Holland so from my perspective I could do a European Delivery for then, just drive to Ingolstad (6 hour drive), pick it up, and drive around Holland a bit with it before putting it on the boat and getting it back to the states for another year. Would then also be able to go to local Audi specialist to see how much work needs to be done to get it fixed up for our laws (headlight washers etc), get a quote on that, and get one in the US and get whats best and cheapest.

Or, I could just have it shipped straight here if that was a significantly better deal.

Now for the dealer, I understand correctly that:
- an ED vehicle is 3% discounted from their invoice? (or is the 3% off of the retail price that I pay?)
- an ED vehicle does not count against their allocation? So it's a freebie for them and not something they couldve sold for more to another customer?
- is the up to 5% discount from the base MSRP (ie 45900 for the S4) or is it off of the final MSRP with real options included (like Nav, B&O) ?

It seems to me that it would make sense for the dealer to want to sell me an ED cause it's a bonus one for them, right?

Another random ED question: does the one hotel night included have to be the night before delivery, or can it also be on the day of delivery?

Final question: if I request a delivery slot in say, the last week of december, and it turns out that they cant make it, what happens? Can you still switch to non ED delivery?

Welcome o ED forum.
Let me make ask you first question - are you are US Citizen?
This program design for legal residents of USA, and you have to show proof of citizenship at delivery center.
The car you received in Ingolstad are the same US specs cars that you can get from local dealership.
Check Audi ED web site link at WIKI

No I am not. And i Had not seen that wiki link yet.

That is strange, the Audi site says:

Eligibility:

You must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license, passport and US Social Security number.

The Wiki says:

You must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license, must be a legal resident of the USA and have a valid US passport and US Social Security number.

Which one is right? I hope the Audi site then but i fear the worst now! What is the source for the wiki? Crap!

Source for WIKI - Audi web site.
I add US passport - because on my last ED when I submit my Purchase order my salesmen take copies of my and my wife passports and when we pick up our car in Germany they ask as to show our passports. Do you have US Social Security card?
You can check for your self be send e-mail to Auditalk (auditalk@audi.com), but I already send them e-mail this morning to clarify this matter. Depend of their replay I will modify WIKI page accordingly.
Let's hope that I'm wrong and you can get your Audi in Germany. Good Luck!

Edit - as you can see they clearly state that they use passport as photo identication and not as a proof of citizenship.
Customers should have the following information available when taking delivery
  1. Copy of Bill of Sale / Sales Contract
  2. Passport as photo identification
  3. Driver’s License
  4. Authority for Vehicle Delivery Form
  5. International Factory Collection Voucher

Tomcat, I get answer for you - I was wrong!
TIME, thank you for your inquiry; we checked with the best informed persons at European Delivery, who confirm that a US passport is not necessary (though a valid passport is); you must, however, have a US Social Security number.

We hope that is helpful and that you will have an enjoyable European Delivery experience.

anyway my original question still stands about how much the car costs for the dealer

lets say MSRP is 50,000 exactly. Normally invoice for the dealer is .93

so thats 46500

now with ED, does it become .90 (50,000 x .9 = 45,000)

or is it 3% off regular invoice (46500 x .97 = 45105)

Not that its a big difference but if im gonna negotiate i wanna have my facts straight!

or if it's something else entirely please inform me!
