This thread is becoming very long, but the information users are posting is helpful. I have encountered a problem I do not see described here. It is a minor inconvenience, but it is annoying.
My Audi Dealership performed the 3G service disconnect about a month ago. Initially, I did not experience a problem, but a few days ago I was unable to open the car’s trunk lid (using the FOB, door switch, or exterior button). My research led me to the glove box "Valet" switch. I was confused because I did not have anything in the glove box, and had not opened or closed it after the 3G servicing was completed. Pressing the Valet button in the glove box restored entry to the trunk via the FOB, door switch, and external button. So, all was well; but then it happened again (Valet Mode activated without pressing the glove box button).
My question: Could the software deactivation of the car’s 3G chip cause an inadvertent “Valet Mode” activation?
