Default Mystery ECU...

As I said earlier, I am new to the URS cars. I have a 20vt in my URQ with a 30r, but I am running a IIc from 034EFI. I have never delt with a Motronic ECU.

Okay, so I have this car, and the ECU is suppose to be bad. I opened it up today to see if I could see anything wrong.. I couldnt, but found that it had been socketed, and has these chips in it...

Now I have searched around a litle bit and have found this particular debate interesting. Some say that it is the MTM chip and others say it is the RS2 software software. The numbers are LS4-EZ92 and LRS 3bar on the other, and it is a 300kpa map sensor. What is everybodies guess on the ECU?

Also, I am wondering if anybody is willing to try this ECU out on the URS and see if the ECU is good.. anybody close to Vegas or Salt Lake city with an URS?

Hank

Hank, looks like an MTM (because it's hand labeled) RS2 (because it's labelled "LRS") chipset.

Default Here are some photos of MTM labeled chips

MTM chips are typically hand labeled unless they were burned by Hoppen Motorsports in Florida, in which case, they have printed labels.

The MTM lable story with MTM+1 chip photo

REAL MTM chips either from MTM or Hoppen have the fueling chip (the one not on the board with the MAP sensor)sitting in a special daughter board (encryption chip) as shown in the upper left of this photo:

I have not seen true MTM RS2 chips but I would check to see if the chip in the right side of your photo is sitting in an encryption board, not just a socket.

The one thing to note is real factory RS2 chips and some S2 chips have an immobilizer built in. As a result, trying to use an RS2 Motronic ECU in a North American AAN S4 will very likely not work. I am not saying this is your problem but it might be, i.e. the ECU might be fine. It's just the chips. Second note: If you changed chips, you would need to REMOVE the MTM encryption board first.

Good luck.

Default Looks like the Lehmann chips labels that were in my

car before I switched to IIC it was modified 3B/RR chipset.

For intance, my chips Said LS2-EZTV and the other chip is LGA-LD03.

Default photos... You decide. My car was running a 2.5 bar Lehmann tune.

James, I think you are right. I guess I should take a closer look at the injectors and decide if they are RS2 injectors or not.

Maybe I should just wire up the s6 to share my IIc out of my URQ..

Default Lehmann it is! Stage III IIRC.

Actually ran the same chipset before. Supposedly it's for an rs2 turbo/EM with still using stock injectors, once again IIRC.

Default Do you by chance have a link to get more information on what the Stage III does?

the injectors do look stock, but the turbo does as well. Kindof an oddball setup. The car is running a Water Injection kit as well...

MTM/Lehmann chips are the same, IIRC.

Default Afraid not, when I bought them I was told they could serve two purposes.

(1) rs2 turbo and exhaust manifold with stock injectors

and

(2) completely stock, very similar to mtm 1+ (but a bit less jeckyl/hyde)

In rs2 trim it'll pull 24psi, very smooth chipset altogether.

Not sure on mtm/lehmann being identical. From what I understand, Lehmann re-tuned mtm programs rather than tuning from the ground up.
