Default Seat Heater Repair Link

Just spent most of Saturday surfing for the illusive PDF write up that 4driver4 made for repairing seat heaters. All of the links are dead that point to s-cars.org. Does anyone have this pdf? My left cheek is on fire and I'm prepping for a seat heater R&R.
Thanks!

Yep, that too gets the dreaded 404 error. Seems that site was shut down, and was reborn. I found its new url, but it doesn't appear to be very functional, nor did I find an archive with info.

Last night I spent some time checking things out in the shop and found a direct short in the heating element of the drivers seat. I kind of want read the DIY to see how much of a PITA it is to repair.

That's unusual. The usual failure is a break in the wiring, so the repair is a simple butt splice of some sort. The issue is getting to the wires since they are buried in the upholstery. A little guidance can save you a lot of unnecessary work there.

You might try the author of that write-up by contacting him directly. tmullane@gmail.com

You didn't investigate all of the available resources. Click on this link and then the live label "Seat Heater Repair" (all the other labels are live hyperlinks as well)

Amazing. I swear I was on that very page that the live link points to, but was foiled at S-cars. Thank you Dave! I'll add that to the library.

Leave it to me to experience the unusual failures. Even when the dial is at "1" my left side went from "yeah it's working" to "Ouch, what the #$% is that?" in less then 2 minutes. Can't be worse then an airbox rebuild,,,

Default Seat heater Update

I ordered a new seat heat element from GenuineAudi online and although they accepted the order, later sent an email that the part has been discontinued by Audi. I was already committed at the time so I bought a generic one from amazon that would not work. Our seats have pleats to accept heavy wires and hog rings, the generic element could not be cut to allow that so I stole the one out of the passenger side (seat swap) Just thought I'd add this note for reference. Sorry, future winter passengers.
