Default 20 Minute Test Drive--S6 arrived last night

Cosmetically--as good as it gets for a 19-year-old car (1st pic attached).

Biggest concern is the interference at clutch take up & initial acceleration.

Light rattle something hitting something underneath.

In an older 3-series BMW I would say guibo.

No clutch slippage--push a bit hard--not too bad.

Goes down the road well--big heavy floaty under tired--it is stock with stock-size 16" & 124K miles so no surprises there.

Engine seems fine, good power nice & smooth up to about 100MPH.

Not crisp by any means, but I'm sure coils & plugs are called for.

Glanced through the service records--had timing belt 60K ago so due. Had 2 Hall sensors already! Lot of synthetic oil changes--that's good.

I want to change ALL fluids. Trans, Diffs, brakes, coolant, etc etc. What's the recommendation for brands, please? Should the Pentosin be changed? It does use that right?

Pile on the advice, please & Many thanks!!

Tom

Wow, she looks nice in the 1 picture, the rings are so shiny. Looks like the interior is ecru.

Yes, Pentosin for the power steering, thought many have changed over to Red Line PS fluid. It's about half the price too. If you don't know when it was done it might be wise to flush now. Some add a small inline filter these days too. Just flushed mine last fall.

I use Pentosin brake fluid too, with the help of a Motive power bleeder. Makes the job almost fun. Check your hoses while your down there. Replacements are only ~$15 each.

I use Mobil 1 10w-30 all year. Make sure your PVC system has no leaks, esp if stock and you chip it up.

Add Pic - Here's my '95 though yours looks mintier on the outside. My black interior is still really nice. I'm stock except for MTM 1+ and silicone hoses, makes all the difference.

PS - thanks for the picture, and you don't have to start a new thread with each post. Enjoy...

OK--the noise was the exhaust hitting where it goes through the cross-member in front. Was off the rear hanger & that stopped 50% of the noise. Still hanging down in front will have to be fixed.
