I think that is a little harsh on the Green/Ecru but $3K to $4K isn't unreasonable.

I'll say it again: Parting a runner is like shooting your dog for farting. Neither make sense.
 
Spending some money(limit the budget) and bring the car back to a solid driver and it will return more value to the owner than the same amount of money in a new(er) car. These cars are done with depreciation. Spending to keep the cars alive isn't necessarily a dumb idea. What could you buy for $5K or $10K that has this much performance (even stock?)?
