big chunk of something on the highway 1, AAN 20vt motor 0..

I hammered something on the highway this morning on my commute to work, couldn't see it coming with a truck in front of me, not to sure if it was already in the road or it came off the truck. Anyway, I had no choice but to go over it with traffic on my right, pretty good thump, lost power immediately, but could not shut down the car or get over without getting killed. I shut the car down and took a look, belly pan was destroyed and it looks like the oil cooler lines took the brunt of the hit, one was torn off the cooler. The motor seized, I have full coverage so I won't get hit that bad I guess. I'm sure they will total the car out.

oh man!

yep sux pretty bad, I think mike was going to buy the avant from me...

because of his recent loss, but now, we just may swap the avant's front end over to his sedan. Just gives me more motivation to get my sedan done.

Wow. Glad you didn't wreck, Bob. I hate to hear that about the car.

Tres bummer. Sorry. What are you going to do if they total it, buy it and fix it? Regardless, that blows.

Just-Emre 10-26-2005 08:42 AM

They won't total an S6 Avant out for a blown motor, not a chance.

They can source a used motor for ~$3k and the labor to put one in is ~$1,500. S6 Avants are worth a lot more than that.

I also question that the motor seized. How long/far did you drive after the hit?

pearlurs4 10-26-2005 08:48 AM

Wow, sorry to hear that, at least you kept control of the car and did not hit anything else

Turbo_Anarchy 10-26-2005 08:52 AM

Really sorry to hear that, glad you are ok.

had the car towed to my work, turns over but a bad rod knock

chefbob 10-26-2005 09:10 AM

I would buy the car back, had thoughts of putting the nose on mikes sedan or..

if it's not a total loss like Emre thinks, I'll have a motor put in.

Just-Emre 10-26-2005 09:10 AM

How long did you drive after it was hit?
