dead turbocharger at 130k 0n 1994 S4
Car has been my baby and not raced. not modified. Tech says turbo is gone, quotes 1400 dollars for turbo price. I am having trouble finding any information on a replacement and what is available.. I have tried searching this site but must not be doing something correctly. Can anyone point me? Thank you John Bengfort

You'll get better response posting your question on the quattroworld forum. http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/
My turbo on a '94 is still working well at 260k miles. Is the turbo making weird noises or something like that? Just as a "fly on the wall" I'd wonder if the turbo was really gone or if it could be a hose, duct, or other problem. I had a split hose a while back that could have easily been considered a turbo problem. These turbos are overall pretty darn reliable.

I agree with Tigerwillow, the turbo is pretty reliable especially with only 130K? Wow, that's low miles. I have a D2 S8 these days, but I pop over here from time to time as I really miss my UrS6. I had a similar problem once when I first got the car and was still servicing at the dealer. It turned out to be a split in one of the turbo hoses, but they told me the turbo was bad. It could also be a stuck waste gate, stuck open I believe. I hadn't seen that, but I remember advice once when I was troubleshooting my issue. Could be a good time to switch to Samco Hoses (https://www.samcosport.com/manufacturer/audi/), so you'll never have a leak again. Keeping it? Good time to make the journey to RS2 Spec? These are amazing cars.... Best of luck

S4 turbo
I appreciate the responses and agree 134k is short life. It makes no noise—just no boost. And no I am not sure it is the turbo—that is what the shop told me. I have not yet tried quattroworld. I can only find rebuild services so far. I probably am going to get a second opinion.

Have you checked the valve, number 40 in the picture?
1997 Audi Audi A6/S6/Avant quattro Europe market: Engine Vacuum hoses with connecting parts 5-cylinder: AAN
It´s quite common that it failes, and then it feels like it´s no boost at all from the turbo. / Best Regards Claes
