HEATER AND A/C CONTROLS NOT WORKING
The various buttons controlling heat & AC have become less and less responsive. If I keep pushing sometimes they respond but less & less lately.
Thought of buying another used unit hoping I would trade up.
Any other suggestions? How hard is it to get the control unit in & out of the dash?
As always, Thanks & Best!

I'm guessing most everyone has had to replace their climate control unit at some point by now. Its not difficult to remove the plastic piece that surrounds it to reveal the fasteners that hold it there. Use a couple small prying tools and work your way around to unclip it. A6s used this same unit so there are more around.

This DIY I did on replacing the climate control (CC) head bulbs shows you what you need to remove and install the CC head.

I am having this issue, as well, so I took mine out and apart yesterday. After removing the unit, there are 3 screws holding the face onto the rest of the unit, so I removed those, unplugged the connector, and just had a look around. All of the buttons seemed to be making contact with the circuit board inside, nothing was loose, and I had seen all of the indicators light up at one point or another. So, seeing nothing really wrong(and not having a rebuild kit on hand) I put it back together, re-installed it, and it functions 90% better than it did before. I'm guessing the unplugging/plugging in removed some oxidation on the pins in the wiring harness and connectors, allowing a better connection when plugged back in. So I'm going to take it back out, clean the connectors, and see if that gets it 100% functional. I don't find it at all unusual for the "unplug it and plug it back in" solution to work on an Audi. Maybe that will work for you, too.
