HID LOW BEAMS WITH BALLAST--DO I HAVE TO CHANGE THEM FOR STOCK BULBS?
My high beams weren't working so I replaced the switch. Dave said it could have been because higher wattage bulbs were used. I put stock high beam bulbs in. Lows are aftermarket HID with ballast. Can I leave them or should I go back to stock low beams?
Many thanks

The DOT low beams, on the other hand, by consensus, tend to suck the big one. Lots of folks have upgraded from stock bulbs to alternatives. The current (no pun intended) upgrade for the 9006 low beam projectors are HIDs, typically in the 4600K to 5000K range. Initially these HID kits were over $500 but in recent years they can be bought for well under $100 per kit. So end up with issues with the Autocheck registering a bulb out fault because of the lower resistance of the HID system.
So, bottomline, if they are working well, you will probably want to keep the HIDs that you have.
