Default Need stereo help......

well, after my battery/alternator died my stereo went into "safe" mode.

The past owner had the code in the paperwork and I tried to enter it to unlock it. The first time didn't work, I thought I might have mixed up the 4 digit code. I tried it again.....no dice. Well, it looks like the owner changed the unit once because there was another code on the back of the card, handwritten. Now the stereo seems to be locked.....won't let me put in the code, just says safe all the time.

What can I do? TIA

Default After two attempts, it goes into lockdown mode...

Wait two hours and then try again. If both codes fail, go to the dealer for the correct code. HTH

Default I had the same problem when I bought my car. Just go...

to the dealer, they will pop out the radio, take note of the serial number and email it along with your ID #, SS, etc. to whomever has access to the code database. In my case it took two hours and now it works fine!

Default Is it OEM? Not all aftermarket stereos have lock. If OEM it may have a battery...

or accumulator which prevents it from locking instantly, but after a few minutes, kaput!

Default That's cool if you don't have to worry about someone stealing it :)

What I meant about the manual is that the stereos come with its own instructions manual, and they refer to the locking feature. If yours don't, it doesn't have it! Hope you never have to worry about that! Cheers
