Default New member with a boost question

Hi all,
new to the forum. I have search but can't find an answer to my question. I have a 93 S4 with what I think in the MTM stage 3 chip as well as the 3bar map. Someone else put this in. My question is, is it safe to run this high of boost? I always get nervous over one bar that I'm going to blow up. What is the max boost that I should be running.
Additional information kkk 27, RS2 exhaust manifold, Audi sport lower intercooler. After market exhaust.
Sorry but I'm trying to figure out all the STUFF the guy put into the car so I do not have all the information yet.

Thanks

let me add and correct the first post. I'm do not feel comfortable running over 18lbs boost. Will these cars reliably run 28lbs boost?

I'm MTM stage 1+ with the 3.0 bar map. Don't have a boost gauge but believe I get ~22lbs of boost. Many run MTM stage 3 and have no trouble with the RS2 EM and bigger turbo. I imagine you are fine. You can usually hear "overboost" so just listen and be careful there.

Thanks for your reply. I have read through a lot more threads and it does seem like the engine can take around 27lbs of boost without issues. I purchased this car a many years back and just got it on the road. It was totaled. The guy before me did a lot of good mods but I'm not sure of all of them as of yet. Some of the mods make me think he was part of this or QW forum. His name was Ned from the northeast. Anyways, once I find out more I will post pictures and the build.
Thanks again

For lots of UrS engine related info, check on the labels in this diagram:

PS: 28 psig is about the max a RS2 K24-7200 turbo will put out and the engine can handle it just fine, provided the software is not too aggressive and the fuel you are using is at least 92 (RON+MON)/2 (to help limit rod-bending pinging)

Thanks for the information if I may call you Dave. I have read a lot of your posts and learned a great deal. I wish I could borrow you for 1/2 day to help me identify what was done to my S4. I'm sure you could tell me without me finding part numbers. Oh well. I'm actually have fun figuring out everything. Just going to take some time. I only run 92 US octane so I guess I should be ok. I took it out over the weekend and let her fly for a bit. Boost went up to 25-26 lbs. Man that felt good. Thanks again or all the help.

Watch out for pinging on 92 and MTM 3. Will sound like nuts and bolts being shaken in a metal coffee can.

No popping yet. It was about 87 degrees out also. Very electric on the way up. Anyways, I have to pull the ECU this weekend to see what was done to it. The old owner stated Joe Hoppen supplied a lot of stuff including the MTM stage 3 but this is unconfirmed at this point. From another source the old owner stated Superchip. Any ideas other than physically opening the ECU?

Thanks again for you help

Default ECU opening hints

Hoppen might have put a label on the the outside of the ECU. They were MTM dealers so if they did the work, it would not likely be a Superchips "set" (which usually was only one chip in their game - typically not good, not liked).

Thanks for the link. I hope I will not need it. I am hoping it is the MTM. Everything I have read about the Superchip is not that super.

Have a great night.
Thanks again
