had fun with a porsche 928s today
on the way to chipotle, a passenger and myself noticed a sea-green/blue car weaving traffic very aggressivley. i slowed down and kept it in 5th. as the car cruised up next to me i noticed that it was a 928. i gave the guy a thumbs up (i like those cars) and he took it as "lets race" he then suddenly goes WOT. i wasnt expecting this, so i threw down my ipod and shifted to 4th. within a split second he already had like 2 cars on me, i seemed to stay with him but at some distance. it was a 65-70is to like 110mph. i finally caught up to him and then he gave me a thumbs up, so that was nice, at least he wasnt one of those, "no one messes with me" drivers like people who drive maxima's. well thats all i got.

Actually at 7000 RPM, our 1.23 3rd gives 102 mph. The 6 spd 1.32 3rd gives 95 mph.
These are calculated values based on 225 50 16 tires and a 4.11 diff ratio (actually 4.1111).

There are different varieties of 928 (GT) (S4) (GTS) etc. so ....
HP amounts vary. I once "outpaced" an older 928 from Quebec on a four lane mountain road (6% grade) soon after I got my 93 S4 (stock 227 hp engine). I was running 225 60 16 (taller) A8 wheels and tires at the time and hit the "208 kph" (130 mph) speed limiter (actually 223 kph (139 mph) because of the taller tires) and the 928 could not get past me. I think it had to be an older, lower, horsepower model.

I had a 86 yr model 928S
Car had I believe 288 hp. At high speeds car was more stable than my S4. This due to the steering feel more than anything. That car would also stop on a dime. Something struggle with on my current ride. Overall, the S4 is a much more comfortable means of transportation.
