Oil Pan R&R
So I managed to crack the oil pan.. grr..
I'm looking around for a replacement, and I see one on ebay for a 200-20V. Does it fit? Their database says it doesn't, but it's the same motor isn't it? |
How did it crack if you don't mind me asking? And you may want to try force5 audi. I have bought a few things from Chris and he is a great guy to deal with.

I've got a good used one.

Finally getting around to the install here... It's actually not too difficult a job once you find the last bolt tucked away at the back of the block.
I was hoping to get away without removing the windage tray, but that was not to be-- the pan, tray, and oil pickup all have to come out together. After cleaning everything up neatly and stacking the new gaskets on the new pan with the windage tray and pickup you can slide it all back in together as well. Then I'd recommend letting the pan hang loose (it will be sitting on the subframe) and holding the upper gasket and the tray in place temporarily with a couple of bolts while you put the oil pickup back in. With the pickup in place you can remove the temporary bolts and fit the pan and second gasket all up over the tray and the first gasket where it goes. As to whether the older stamped sheet metal pan will fit- it won't. The cast pan looks like it carries a bunch of the block/transmission load. It's got a few large bolts that go in to the bell housing, and the older one won't do that. Anyone have torque specs for this job? I believe the little hex key fasteners are 7-9ft lbs, but there are some hex bolts and the big bolts to the tranny that I don't know about. I tried to download a PDF but couldn't read it.. |
