pentosin vs audi ps fluid.
Trying to top off fluid and Audi sold me their fluid which is chf11s. S standing for synthetic. I'm almost positive I need the pump but I want to top it off to trouble shoot and identify the exact leak.
Is it ok to use the factory audi stuff , I hear people using pentosin so just trying to see the difference, I know pentosin is the brand just didn't know if there was a difference

Hi, Audi doesn't mfr fluids. The OE power steering fluid comes from Pentosin.
You don't say what model/model year car you are working on. IIRC, the CHF11S was introduced around 1996. I can't recall what was used prior to that.

A lot of UrS owners are using RedLine Power Steering fluid these days. It's about 1/2 the cost and is believed to work as good or better. Its also okay if the 2 get mixed. Some also add a Magnafine filter to help keep the system clean.

My original question was probably a "dumb" question. I Did not know the stuff Audi sold was the exact same stuff as the pentosin branded cans.
I did read they are interchangeable and I have heard of people running filters. Are the filters run between the reservoir and the pump?

I topped off fluid and ran the car. Was able to pinpoint my leak. It's coming from the high pressure line.
The banjo bolt has the hard line attached. my leak is at the junction of the hard line connected to the pump and the larger rubber hose portion. Going to see if I can get a hose clamp to stop the leak. How is that joint formed? I fully expected to see a leak caused by corrosion but not a leak at the rubber. No scratches or scrapes or obvious signs of damage.
If anyone has any advice that doesn't include spending $330 on a replacement line I'm all ears

FWIW, if your car is spec'd for the CHF 11S, you can switch to the newer product called CHF 202. It's fully compatible with the 11S and is a bit less $$$.
