Get an answer
If the answer is not what you wanted to hear, then ask questions as to how they came to their conclusions, or to show you AoA information that dictates how these claims work. I'm going to ask a friend of mine who's a local SA for Audi today what's up with that.

Cool thanks for asking your friend. I do plan on taking it to the dealer--of course that will be the only way to find out. But...i'm better off going in well armed with some knowledge.

Looks like it rusted from the inside, so perhaps your doors are plugged up?
 

This happend on my old GTI, the drain at the bottom of the door got plugged and water accumulated inside and rusted out the bottom of the door... check you drain holes and I hope AoA is nice to you!
