Default possible to change strut mounts/bearings without pulling entire strut?

I need to do shocks and strut mounts/bearings, but don't want to have to pull the entire strut assembly out because then I'll have to get the car aligned. I know I can do shocks without pulling everything out, but can I do the mounts and bearings too?

top mount yes but bearing might be tough to get to without taking the whole assembly out.

Default Yes, the entire thing WILL come out, but it takes some manipulating.

Take top nut off, jack that side up, the strut will drop. Push down on the strut shaft (which is tough if you have Bilsteins) and you can manipulate them out. This is how I did mine.

Default No they will come out. It's tough, but they will.

The entire lower mount and bearing can be pulled. I did it. With the strut nut out, the strut assembly will drop low enough and the spring will slack enough to allow the lower plate to be manipulated out.

Default nice. I'll be pulling the shocks out anyway so that should make more room

wait, I just realized that changing the shocks from the top would require removing the bearings anyway. so I already knew this was possible. d'oh.
