S6 CUTS OUT ABRUPTLY AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE
Just started. Been running fine. Ran fine driving home from work last night.
Going to work this morning first time I got on it & boost started to build cut out as if I had switched off the ignition! As soon as I backed off ran fine. Tried it a few more times & it did the same thing. Seems to run fine at part throttle just cuts out at full throttle.
Whats happening? Please help.
Thanks,
Tom

ABRUPT CUT-OUT DIAGNOSED
It is the ECU. Shut it off & re-start it is fine. Went into the cut-out mode again once after about 20-30 starts--pulled over shut it off & re-start & it is OK.
Also has a 2nd ECU malfunction that I've noticed after 2 hot starts: goes to a 2100 RPM "idle" instead of the normal idle. Again, re-start & it goes away.
Wonder what the future holds for my ECU?
This forum is awfully quiet (?)

Yeah, there's not many of us left here. the QW forums and facebook groups seem to be keeping the flame lit..
So.. you have error codes for the ECU? If it's really the ECU it's time to source a replacement. That said, other things could be at wokr here.. vacuum leaks? Sensor problems?

Pic of your S6 looks just like mine--Pearl/ecru? I also run stock wheels.
Thanks, Tom

Crystal Silver with Platinum interior. I think the stock wheels look great and match the car as well as you could want. Doesn't need to roll around on comical low-profile 20s like a modern-day S6.

On the subject of boost leaks - if you have a serious leak like a split michelin man, you should be able to hear hissing if you run with the windows down, etc?
Related noise question - my car is stock, and when accelerating at low-mid rpms I can hear a loudish "squeak" that goes away as the rpms rise. Does that indicate anything to you? Just blow off? something leaking?

Boost Leak Testing
Tom: As others have suggested, you need to eliminate boost leaks as the potential cause by doing a boost leak test. Read this and act:
