SAD NEWS? UR S6 AVANT blew white smoke and died?
Heading up Parleys Canyon at normal speed a few days ago and saw the check engine light come on. I ignored it until I noticed a loss of power going up the pass and suddenly heavy white smoke from the rear and engine area (Might have been in the engine and smoking back). Pulled over and turned it off. It won't start! I noticed the temperature was also hot after pulling over. Engine smelled like oil. Did I blow a head gasket? Turbo Motor? I think the car would have run withe turbo motor blown however and not sure if check engine light would have come on first with the head gasket. Who does the best work in Salt Lake? Not a good day!

Never ignore a check engine light. My guess is the white smoke = coolant into the cylinders = steam = blown headgasket. Head may be warped now. Good luck.

Thanks everyone. Unfortunately it was a blown head gasket plus melted engine parts. Needed to replace engine! Got lucky in Boulder and found an engine at Apikol and the car is back on the road 5-6K later. UGGGG
