Shade Tree Software

Does anyone else (probably only Colorado people) have a Shade Tree Software chip? I called AutoSport Werks in Denver, who did all the upgrades on my car for the previous owner, they said some guy named Steve Eiche does the programming. The chip seems to work fine for my car, just wondering if anyone has opinions on these.

Steve Eiche is correct. His RS2 code is *similar* to Uncle Bob Pastore's Home Brew (IIRC).

I think they collaborated on the "development", i.e. code breaking, some years ago.

Steve also does real time tuning IIRC.

Steve also will repair an ECU if it is not too far gone.

Steve Eiche chipped my car.

Steve did all the labor on installing the chip.

This involved:

1. Pulling the ECU from the car.
2. Cracking open the ECU box
3. Desoldering the 2x stock chips + MAP sensor
4. Soldering 2x DIP sockets + VMAP sensor
5. Installing chips
6. Reinstalling ECU in car.
7. Test drive. (difference was immediately noticable)

Steve knew what he was doing and was an expert with the soldering iron. I drove out about 1000 miles to meet him at his home on a Sunday Morning and he was done in about an hour. Highly reccomended.

The typical dénouement to that story is, "And on my way home, I tested the new boost levels and...

BLAM!! I hear this big whooshing noise and discover that I ripped a big tear in the Michelin Man hose from the cross over pipe to the stock intercooler. If it wasn't for &lt;insert name here&gt; and his roll of &lt; insert favourite brand&gt; duct tape, I would have never got home".<ul><li><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C3%A9nouement">Click here for the vocabulary limited.</a></li></ul>

Negative! Samco boost hoses were installed before the chip.

I've had hoses blow off, I've had hose clamps break, but I haven't had a Samco failure yet.

All boost hose seperations happened during track duty. Running the car at basically at WOT and getting 150 miles per tank for 2 hours at a time can do that. ;)

I'm fairly certain the chip in my car was done by Steve*. Plus he did some repair work

on my ECU when somehow my bad CPS led to the ECU dying at the same time.

* Dave Jones who used to be at Autosport werks chipped my car for me, so I really am not sure what software he installed.
