I'm systematically going through and checking things out.. have looked @ wiring, grounds, Bentley, etc.. Everything seems to be in order but I'm hoping there isn't some weird link between the blinkers and maybe something else I've disconnected...it's the oddest thing. There's no secret relays hiding anywhere eh?

As far as I can tell it's the entire system, because the hazard button doesn't even work, though it does light up properly. Suggestions on where to poke around or something to check would be appreciated, as I'm getting down to the nitty-gritty on things I haven't yet looked at. I have a sneaky suspicion that there's a GND missing somewhere, so I'm about do to continuity checks at the hazard button.

We had a 2000 beetle in the shop this week with the hazards and turn signals out and it was the hazard switch causing the problem. Like I said I may be wrong but IIRC most VW/Audis incorporate the hazard switch and turn signal flasher together.

so I think my next step is to locate that relay.

I have a sneaky suspicion that with the middle console area in pieces, some strange & unidentified ground hasn't been hooked up =S

I had the console out of Stephs Avant for her stereo but I don't recall any grounds in there to be disconnected to remove it.

maybe. it's a bit ambiguous but that's kinda what it seems to be..

Yeah, the only time this happened to me was when my starter was engaged cuz of the ignition switch.

do you have a spare switch you can swap in?

i can manipulate the hazard button which makes the SIEMMENS relay click.

doesn't make the SIEMMENS relay click if the ignition is at pre-start or anywhere in-between
