For wireless CarPlay, you definitely need the Audi Connect app installed on your phone - you also need to ensure you’re connected to the car’s 5GHz wireless network.

I’d suggest it would be the same scenario for Android.

There is no ability to use Android Auto wirelessly on our cars.

It will work if you have use a Google phone (Pixel) with Android Pie.

All in all though I've given up with AA. All it does is **** me off. I've now gone back to Tasker, a phone mount, and Waze. Much easier to navigate with Tasker automating everything I need it to, and having the MMI remain with the usual contents.

It seems only Google phones (Pixel, Nexus) support wireless AA for now, s read on the Google AA forum. Support will be coming for other Android devices in the future but your guess is as good as mine as to when that will actually happen. I will use the cable for now as I rely on Waze and if I get caught with my phone while driving it's a hefty fine.

I use my CarPlay tethered to a cord to play music as I have found that Bluetooth greatly degrades to sound quality. Would ApplePlay wireless also result in reduced fidelity?
