I took this with a grain of salt. But at the Minneapolis Auto show I discussed the E-Tron with the Audi representative. He mentioned the plan is by 2025 for every model in Audi's lineup to have an electric option.

I was a little surprised when they released the plug in models for A6/A7/A8 that the Q8 wasn't included since it shares the same engine. The Q8 plug in hybrid was spied recently so maybe later this year? https://www.motor1.com/news/316553/a...lug-in-hybrid/

Yuck! I would rather see a more powerful fossil fuel option!

Yuck what? Not every hybrid performs like a Prius, in case you didn't know. The $2.8M Mercedes-AMG One is a plug-in hybrid, for example, as will be forthcoming models from a number of well-known high-performance brands. More down to earth, the most powerful Panamera is a plug-in hybrid. It is just a matter of time before that is true of additional Porsche and AMG and other product lines.

I must wait for the Hybrid. The throttle hesitation has chilled my desire to pick up a new beautiful Q8. Seems there is no hope for a factory fix and the brainy OBD owners can't find a way to re-program the default to off. Thus, the Hybrid.

I like how Audi has set up the other hybrids in the line with a comfort (4 cylinder + battery) and a sport (6 cylinder + battery) version for each one so the consumer can decide what is most important to them.

Not an issue of performance; I just don’t want any vehicle that has to be plugged in period. The “mild hybrid” systems that are “charged” from the engine are acceptable but any vehicle that requires plug-in technology is just too inconvenient and wasteful of natural resources.
