For those of you that watched Apple's WWDC opening keynote saw that there is a completely redesigned CarPlay in iOS 13. Has anyone downloaded the beta to their phone and tried it on the Q8? I'd assume it would work but not sure how tied enhancements to CarPlay are to the hardware/software built into the car.

Good call. I am a beta tester and I’m only on 12.4. So not changes to my Q8 CarPlay yet. I’ll keep you posted.

There are some features in the updated CarPlay that need to be supported in the car's firmware to be available, but most everything else should work on existing cars. Some of the new features such as showing nav instructions in the VC/HUD will need support from Audi, but don't get your hopes up. CarPlay has supported an auxiliary display since iOS 10 if I remember correctly, but most car manufacturers have yet to support it.

I've been testing the iOS 13 beta since it was released on the developer portal. No issues using it with the Q8. I like the redesign a lot. I just found (today) the option to automatically switch between light and dark modes. The default is dark mode all the time. As mentioned, I haven't had any issues but your mileage may vary, so I would recommend caution with any beta.

Cool. My vehicle will hopefully be here soon and thought it would be cute to show up for the technologist visit with iOS 13 on it. But didn't want to cause the visit to be bust because the phone wouldn't work with the car. Thanks for the update Andrew.
