Default Its Heeeeere !

There's Daytona Gray under there somewhere, Prestige with everything except the audio upgrade (i'm going deaf, so why bother) and night vision (had that on the Q7, found it to be nothing more than a novelty). Real pics coming soon. I received a base Q8 as a loaner (turned in my Q7 Saturday), that was a good way to get up to speed on menus and the overall feel of the car. Stay tuned for more pics, delivery at 5:30 today.

I spent an hour in the garage learning the menus, so far, so good. Front windows to be tinted when I get the time, and dealer ordered the filler plate to replace the front license holder. Coming from a loaded Q7, its not a dramatic change, but it is enough that I know I'll love this car.

I live in northern MN where there are a lot of deer in the ditches and woods off the sides of the rural roads. Would you think the night vision would be an asset in seeing these deer before they decide to sprint out onto the road?

There are a lot of deer where I live as well. My wife feeds the damn critters in my back yard. Biggest issue is that the night vision screen is in the virtual cockpit, so you really cant keep your eyes on the road when watching the night vision screen. The night vision does itself issue warnings when it detects things - I think that happened one time in 3 years for me.

I had the night vision in my old 2012 A6 Prestige - it was a novelty and not something I wanted or needed going forward. Same implementation with the night vision display in the middle of the cockpit gauges, which meant you had to take your eyes of the road to look at it. They've upgraded the pedestrian and animal detection since then, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.
