Need Advice: Scratch on Daytona Gray Pearl (2019 Audi Q8)

Hello guys! I just got a scratch on my 2019 Audi Q8 with Daytona Gray Pearl color (LZ7S). It's on the side front bumper and the wheel well area.

Seems that the scratch might be reaching the paint layer or even deep to the metal layer (though for this two spots it's probably plastic inside?); yes and the wheel rim..

Has anyone dealt with this kind of issue before? Since it's not very serious but also not minor -- should I head to a body shop or DIY?

If I go DIY, are putty and filler needed here? Also, for the paint and clear coat, given the special pearl effect on Daytona Gray Pearl, I'm wondering if that requires a special type of custom paint to match it correctly.

Any product recommendations or tips would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Hard to tell. Have you tried buffing the area to possibly remove simple paint transfer? Then it will depend what is truly a scratch, and how deep it is. You can try DIY methods, but if you want it to look good you are probably going to a pro if you want no sign of the repair.

ah! I haven't tried buffing yet but at least there's some real scratch -- some paint gets peeling.

so have you tried any DIY or do you have any suggestions on paint for your Daytona Gray Pearl? thx!

There is no possible way that any home repair will match Daytona Grey Pearl. First, you are through the clear, base layer and primer and the flare requires repair because the cut is deep into the plastic. Second, that color is not easy to match for a professional shop. The depth of the metal flake and pearl is just tough to duplicate and you will not get that out of a rattle can. You can see the difficulty in the second picture where the plastic flare takes paint differently than the bumper cover. Have a competent shop fix that so it is not the first thing that you look at every time you walk up to your car until the day that you sell it…

That's a repaint if you want to get it 100%.

It looks like the scratches are deep, right up to the primer. I would look for a "smart repair" workshop. They should fix it for you without any problem. The fender trim will definitely have to be repainted, but the bumper can be repaired in spots. I would try to avoid painting the entire bumper because it is expensive and the shade of the paint may vary.

both areas of the scratches are on the ABS plastic parts and not on metal. They could be repainted without adverse effect on the vehicle value
