I've placed an order for factory built Q8 and was wondering how the process and notification work. Does the factory issue updates at each step of the process to the dealer? I was told since I'm getting an adaptive Steering option, the factory will only produce those a few days each month. Right now I have a status of Waitlist and a UU3472 Comm#. No VIN or Current ETA.

How many dealers are in your area? I would try to order a car that has a more solid timeframe than "No Current ETA". It's possible this dealer doesn't have any allocations at the moment and instead of telling you that, they told you some phony story about adaptive steering.

you won't have a VIN # for a long while yet - that's one of the last things, not the first

no eta simply means the order is waitlisted, which on Q8's, or anything in demand, can easily happen, on a regional basis

Your order was done 11/12 - I'd exect to see you car in April/May based on current production schedules and demand

An entire estimated production schedule, frozen to changes date, eta, etc all is populated simultaneously, once there is a spot in the queue for you
