Q8 2020 timeline
 

I am considering either the Q8 (2019 or 2020) or the Q7 2020 refresh in the next few months.

- From what I understand, the Q7 refresh will launch mid-september in Europe and will probably follow here in North America in Q1 2020.
- As for the Q8 2020, do you guys know what the timeline is for the release in North America? Since it became available in dealers around november last year I'm guessing it should be similar for the 2020 MY.
- Would I be able to order a Q8 2019 in the next few months even if the MY 2020 is imminent?
- Would you guys recommend waiting for the 2020 MY to see if initial problems have been resolved?

-2020 production should start sometime next month (August) with cars arriving in the U.S. late September/mid-October. The open question is whether they’d be held up at the ports (of entry), and if so, for how long.
-Doubt you can effectively order a 2019 spec car at this late point and not have the order bumped from the system (just happened to someone on the forum). It would be a real crapshoot for you at this point. Not sure that all initial first year problems would be ironed out with early production 2020’s, but most known issues seem to be relatively minor that should be ameliorated with on-going software updates.
-Personally, I’d go with a 2020, which now gives you the availability of the option to order a leather trimmed upper interior door sill (extended leather) versus the cheap feeling plasticized 2019 upper door treatment—a personal bugaboo for me when I first saw the Q8.

Others may have different opinions, but these are my thoughts.

I've had zilch problems with mine aside from the throttle lag. I'm not sure it qualifies as a problem from the manufacturer perspective.
