I contacted my dealer to configure red leather interior.

The bottom line here is "something" in the $5-6,000 neighborhood.

Red is an Exclusive color offering -- there is no reason to think it is special, it is a decision that was made by "someone" perhaps because red will be offered as a standard color in the SQ8. My S4 has a red leather interior. It was a $1,250 over the standard alcantara seats -- MARKETING.

Surely there are options that literally cost MORE than other options. Red leather seats are not offered in the RS5, but are in the S5. As far as I can tell (having driven both) there are no seat differences between the S5 and RS5. Red is not offered in the RS5, however.

I'm referencing AudiofAmerica offerings.

I don't doubt that "anything the traffic will allow" is a bad practice. But as much as I would like to have a Q8 with a red leather interior, it is not "worth" $6,000, it is worth $1,250. That it may be worth $6,000 to you does not make either one of us wrong.

But, I wish the choices were put on a menu (or a configurator) somewhere so that a rational and reasonable choice could be made from a list of possibilities.

Frankly, since Okapi brown leather is "no charge," I'd be fine with keeping the $6,000 for other things.

But, damn, the thing will be beautiful.
