First of all, thanks to everyone for the info, very helpful!

1) Dr Soto: Are you confident that those are the item #s you ordered? The description of the parts on the website are vague so not entirely sure what I'd be ordering haha! One of the items says "trim elements" and the other says "cup holders". So would love a verification that these are correct.

4M8863276 V58 & 4M8862533 4PK

2) It appears that OEMVWSHOP is about $100 cheaper all in than Europrice, not sure if others have come up with a similar price difference? And yes I converted the Euro to US$ lol

3) Can anyone guess at the size difference? Are they close in size or is the Euro Spec significantly smaller cup holders?

One of Europrice is listing for Kufatec Products. Some interesting stuff for a Q8 https://www.kufatec.com/en/listing/i...egory/1171?p=1

Default Cup Holder

SammyH

There is a currency tap that is on the top right side web page, you may exchange for US Dollars on the oemvwshop. I am pretty sure about parts number, those are the one I installed. Also, the size in depth is about 1/2 inch less to fit the cover, the width is the same. There was no codes error on installation and light are the same. I am not a mechanic but if I did myself, anyone may do it too. I really like the looks now, much better that before, in my opinion.
Please be aware that I am sharing my experience getting the parts and installing them. The parts pricing isn't that expensive, it is worth the try.

Regards,

Angelo

How much stuff did you have to take apart to install the new part?
The lidless holders are 80mm/3 11/64 ID, what is the ID of the new holder?

Angelo,

Thank you very much for your reply and the helpful info. I'm going to order and give it a shot. I completely agree that the looks are significantly enhanced, especially that the width of the cup holders are not compromised.

Would be great if you could post some pictures, taken during your installation process, so we know how much has to be done to install it.

I'll be sure to take pics when I install it, but this will be several weeks out. Not sure if Angelo or others who have already made the mod took any installation pics

Default Installation process

Unfortunately I did not.

But. You will need a Trim removal tool to remove the center console upper cover, a lots of patience and be careful, because removing the cover, you have to exert pressure to pop it up. The are one connector to the cover. Then remove the leather top cover of the gear selector. There is one torx screw on top, after unscrewing it, pull up the gear selector. Now you will be able to remove the center console cover. The cup Holder has 3 screws holding it to the center cosole, remove them and there is a connector for the cup holder on the bottom part, revome it.
now replace it with the new one.

I hope this will help

Thanks for the info. So part #14 from the diagram should be carefully pried up and is held down by one connector? Where is that connector located on the cover?
I assume the leather top to the gear shifter **** is also pried off?
