Default Q8 - Minor Issues

I have 1500 miles now on my Q8. The car has been solid so far with the exception of a few minor inconveniences. Saw some of these in the A8 forum and I’m assuming some of you may have experienced one or more of these issues as well...

1.) My two center screens went dark a couple times briefly. Restart of the car set it back to normal.

2.) XM volume shuts off all the time when using wireless Carplay. You have to keep re-selecting the station from shortcuts or MMI. It also will not come back after phone calls, texts, or turn by turn Carplay directions at times.

3.) My camera lost the 3D and alternate view bar a couple times. Restarted and the camera was back to normal.

4.) Easy entry always moves the wheel but sometimes not the seat. The issue seems to pop up if the seat has been moved back from the saved position (with only the ignition on), it then won’t move forward to its original saved position with easy entry the next time you get in.

5.) Passenger mirror has gotten stuck in the tilt down position a few times after reversing. Had to manually adjust back to normal after driving off.

6.) The goofy Carplay nav compass (this thing is so dumb) got stuck on my Virtual Cockpit screen even after clearing all map apps from my phone, turning on and off Carplay on iphone, and restarting the car. When shutting off Carplay and going to MMI it would instantly go back to Google earth nav, but when re-enabling Carplay, the compass would come back even though I had no map apps open. Powering off/on my phone finally cleared it. Has only happened once so far.

7.) In a cold car when blasting the heat on fan speed 4 or so the vents and/or the dash trim panels make a TON of crackling/popping noises. There’s a thread on Q7 about trim panel noises, and I had a ‘15 Macan that did this. Maybe it’s a VAG thing I don’t know, but the Q8 is loud. When the car heats up and the fan speed is turned lower it goes away for the most part.

Some of those don't seem like minor issues in a $90k car, but maybe first year glitches. If they are there in year 2, that's another conversation...

Here’s another issue I also saw on A8...

- 3D virtual camera image is distorted around the edges of the screen.

The windows on the non-lux pkg ones I drove made an awful racket chattering around inside the window seals

That I haven't heard at all but I do have the dual pane glass. On the Macan the door seals made a huge racket and the dealers could never do anything about it. My last 4 cars have been 2 Audi and 2 Porsche and none of them were silent, I'm used to some rattles. My Panamera and the Q8 have a "tinny" type of rattle coming from somewhere in the instrument cluster but in 3 years I never mentioned it on the Panamera and probably wont on the Q8. The last thing I want is the techs taking apart any trim panels or anything near the cluster. I figure it will only get worse.

Thankfully you wont hear it anywhere's near as much with the DPG...appparently they used the same windows seals for both DPG and non...not a good idea as the non is much narrower causing the issues...more cost savings...
